I am starting a new feature for Tragically Hip – Look of the Day (LOTD). 

Just a quick peek into my closet and what you may see me tooling around SL wearing on any given day.   

I shot this first one in my office but I think I may even do some location shots for a little more color and interest.  I am looking forward to the new addition and I hope you enjoy it too!

As you all get ready to hit the gates of the Shoe Fair – let me tell you a little bit about it and give you some sneak peeks to really pique your interest!

The bloggers’ review was last night and it was terrific fun!  I saw the devastatingly handsome Mr. Winter Jefferson there of the terrific blog In Cold Blood.  He flashed me his trademark toothy, dashing, sparkling and quite pointy in parts smile but I missed out on the chickens-on-a-stick I heard he was passing out *shrugs*.  It was still great to see him in world strolling around!  Guys, you know if Winter was there that there are men’s shoes to be had! Check out his blog for some of his favorites!

First, the build… it is SO adorable!  All the booths look like barns with cute little stone pathways to stroll across the sims, through the shops and haybales leisurely.  The scenery is dotted with apple trees and corn fields, sprawling oak trees and fields of wildflowers.  I loved the layout, design and flow of the sims.  I have to really issue kudos to Phoenix and Delora for this amazing build.  You’re really going to love it!!

Now, a selection of boots I just loved!

These adorable boots are from G Field called Short Lace-up Boots.  They come in a wide variety of colors and are completely reasonable at under $200L! 

They are offered with both the under the pants version shown above and the high ankle version below

The creator of these cute, retro boots is Cerberus Noel and the G Field booth can be found on the Rhodium sim.

Lastly, a very stylish ankle boot from valentine Biddle creating for Mentine.

Lots of things about this boot are recolorable and you all know how much I love value for my Linden! All metals retexture and the main color retextures to 4 different colors. I just love their shape and all around style!  Mentine’s booth can be found on the Iridium sim.

There were quite a few vendor booths that weren’t yet complete for the bloggers’ preview so I am sure I will be going back again and again to pick up more and more samples throughout the fair so keep your eyes peeled for me in world and here on the blog!

Well you have LESS THAN AN HOUR before you can storm the gates of Shoe Fair 2010 and go crazzzzy for yourselves – and all for such a great cause… spending never feels so good as when it’s helping someone else in need!  I can’t release any landmarks at the moment so be sure to check the main Shoe Fair blog for everything you need that I can’t give you yet!

Hi again all my tragic hipsters!

The event that all you fashion footwear-aholics wait for all year is finally here… the 2010 Shoe Fair!!  It starts 8/7 at 12pm SLT!  That’s TOMORROW!!!!

The event is to benefit Soles4Souls - a wonderful charity organization that gives shoes to people desperately in need.  In 2oo4, a now infamous Tsunami devastated Southeast Asia and was one of the worst natural disasters of our time taking over one hundred-thousand lives.   The creator of this wonderful organization, Wayne Elsey,  got his inspiration watching the coverage of the massive destruction when he saw a lone shoe wash up on shore.  He made some calls and through the generous donations from executives in the footwear industry over a quarter of a million pairs of shoes were delivered to the victims of the ravaged countries. 

Then, when Hurricane Katrina hit Louisiana’s gulf coast a year later, Wayne called in the troops again and they rounded up over a million pairs of shoes for those disaster survivors.  Wayne started thinking even bigger and when he thought of how many people a day could be reached with the donation of a much-needed necessity as simple as a pair of shoes… Soles4Souls was born.  

I encourage you to read more about this very worthy cause by checking out the Soles4Souls website.  Their mission statement is a basic one: Changing the world, One pair at a time.  I love it.

The SL Shoe Fair originator and mastermind Phoenix Chapman says their goal is one million Lindens!!  With the generosity of the designers for their creations, the organizers for their tireless work and devotion to the cause and to bringing you a fun event AND through your own generosity and compulsion t0 shop as well as your desperate addiction to shoes… I know we can make that goal a reality!

08/07        Flickr contest open for submissions  -

The flickr photo contest is open to everyone, with one prize for best image featuring shoes.  Photos should be taken in SL of course, and you can upload one image per day.   Please no images promoting hatred or bigotry, or graphic p0rn0graphy.

                      Blogger contest begins - 

The Blogger contest is open to anyone with a Second Life blog. All you have to do to enter is blog the shoe fair, and upload the primary image from your post to the flickr group. Please put your avatar name and blog url in the description. There will be 3 prizes, for Best Shoe Fair Designer Feature, Best Over all Shoe Fair Coverage, and Best Image. The purpose of this contest is to help promote Shoe Fair, as well as reward bloggers for the hard work they do. Same basic rules as above, and of course posts must be directly referencing the Shoe Fair, and Shoe Fair Designers.

A few more new and exciting things about this year’s Shoe Fair:  

The newest fad to hit Second Life – the GACHA Machine has found its way into the Shoe Fair!  There will be a couple of Gatcha machines on each sim with special items from Adorkable Poses, Boom, Exodi, Glitterati, Whippet & Buck, Diesel Works, Haven Designs, Stellar and Fri.day!

AND…

The Haybalers!!  This is another way for non-shoe designers to sponsor the fair and offer a few goodies for sale. Look for them along the paths as you walk around the sims. The concept will be self-explanatory

Rebel Hope and her partner in crime RH Engel have released a matching 3 part set of lingerie, gown and jewelry in a VERY limited quantity! 

This captivating set with all pieces created in a vivid sapphire blue is called “Misty”. 

First, let’s take a look at the lingerie set.  It is ultra feminine made out of shimmering satin with a hint of naughty black lace trim on the bra, panty and around the top of the sheer, thigh-high stockings.   I like the cut of the panty as well, not too high in the leg and not too much of a thong cut in the back.  I think it shows just enough cheek to be especially sexy.  I don’t always find lingerie sets I think are pretty enough to wear alone but this one sure is. 

Included with the lingerie set is a pair of pumps in the same matching color and bejeweled with sapphires down the back seam and at the toe perfectly mirroring the jewelry set created for this dress.

Since I just mentioned the jewelry, let’s take a look at that next.  It is an elegant linking strand of marquis cut sapphires bezel set and surrounded by delicate filigree scrollwork.  The earrings are drop and in the same pattern and setting as the necklace.  A platinum and gold setting option are included in your purchase.

Lastly, the third component of this set available is the gown, a gorgeous, form-fitting, strapless bodice with an applique detail across the top.  The sweeping skirt is bell without being completely full and has 3 options included that are of varying degrees of sheerness.  The unusual hemlines at the bottom of the skirt shows detail matching that of the bodice.  A final detail is a very sweet group of blue flowers right at the hip giving it a bit of a feel of the fleeting summer.   I love the low-cut back of this dress and how it  fastens in the back with a lovely little jeweled clasp.

Everyone wants to be unique in SL and you have that opportunity with this set as there will never be anymore than 25 of these three items EVER in Second Life!!    I can tell you that there were only about 4 chances to get a complete set of the 3 left as of this morning! After that, you will be missing one of the three components.

My very good friend Hibiscus Flossberg owns Puarangi Designs and has been a jewelry designer in SL for quite a while now.  Her skills in virtual creation and design come from her work as a jewelry designer/silversmith in real life. 

Hibi now offers gem color change by touch in some of her pieces.  Simple to use with touch and select color choice from a menu.  I love this option because it really gives you more bang for your buck! Instead of having to buy a set for every color you need, you only need to buy it the one time and all the color choices are included.

Her shiny things are classic and timeless with clean lines.  That means they offer a punch of color while looking perfect with everything from jeans to a dressy pantsuit.  These pieces will never go out of style!

The set I have shown here is called “Lily Boho” set and I am wearing mine in silver.  Hibiscus also offers the earrings n three size – S, M and L.  I am wearing the medium size in these photos.

Hibiscus also occasionally has special limited edition sets.  One of my favorites she has had out lately is called “Sun Goddess”.  I was fortunate enough to get my hands on one of the only 200 sets that will ever exist in Second Life. 

I love how bright and cheery this set is and how it brings the color into (and out of) the outfit I am wearing!

I show the ring, necklace, bracelet and earrings but it is actually a FIVE piece set with a beautiful headpiece featuring a huge one of those glowing orange center stones.  It is truly a lovely crown finishing out this ensemble. If you didn’t get one of these, sadly, they are already all gone, but keep your eye out because Puarangi Designs often does this a few times a year.

Hibiscus has just reopened her new main store at Diamondhead but she also has an outlet in Copley Square!  Her styles are awesome, her use of color is fantastic… make sure you head over there and check her out!

Here is the newest hot little summer style from Indyra Originals!  It’s super sophisticated but there’s nothing sweet about it.

It starts with a cotton sateen tank featuring a cowl neck and delicate little gold chains that bridge the cleavage in a subtle “look-at-me” way. 

Indy has made a precious pair of cotton denim cuffed shorts with tack up straps and fashionable metal accents on all the details.   They are the perfect length, chic, stylish and appropriate for any venue.

The star of this show though is a completely hot and very flashy vest/jacket combo.  It’s sculpted with stiff collars and draped with metal chains and jewels on a shoulder brooch that dress this one up smartly with uptown attitude.

All three pieces come in a wide variety of color choices perfectly suited for some serious mixing and matching.  The jacket and the shorts are both available in either gold or silver metal options.

This outfit is hot enough and cool enough for any occasion and I feel amazing in it!   No matter what the season, Indy always does it smoking so head on down and check out all her sexy clothes, shoes and accessories!

Over the holiday, the Relay Raiders put together another adorable Relay for Life event to benefit the American Cancer Society;  Hunt for the Cure.   

It was a great idea, well-organized, neat and fun!  Some incredible and generous designers were involved and I am going to show you an outfit I put together from the items all purchased for either $10L or $25L.  

This adorable satin dress was created by Agnes Finney of My Precious.  I love the colors in this ultra-feminine dress!  The full skirt feels nostalgic while the wrap style top feels fresh, modern and incredibly sexy by showing just enough skin. 

This super cute set of enameled bangles was created by Caroline’s for the event.  I think the little ribbon is the perfect accent on the bangle in the middle.  Not too many, not too much, just a subtle reminder of the reason – of the cause. 

Lastly, a simple, sweet and exquisitely made bracelet of precious stones from Earthstones with more of the lovely purple colors of RFL along with some complimenting blues and violets.  

I had a great time on this hunt and found all sorts of treasures while donating to a cause I love.  

I only wish I hadn’t been away for the holiday so I could have done the hunt before the last day and blogged about it earlier.

I love the stuff SySy Chapman, the owner and designer of SySy’s Designs,  has been putting out lately!  Lots of new styles in great colors to have us looking stylish through the fun days of summer. 

The first thing I wanted to show you was this cute little summer dress.  Short and sleeveless with cute gathers in three layers giving it a feminine overall style without being frilly.  Great as a bathing suit cover up at the beach or pool or equally suited to just wearing on its own for shopping or lunch.   

I paired it with a very fun new hairstyle from Truth with little pigtails and colored streaks that matched the color of the dress perfectly.  This style comes with a selection of streaks and also in the normal colors without the streaks all in the same pack.  This has been a playful feature Truth has put in several of his styles this summer so we all must be having as much fun with it as he is.

And next, a new outfit straight out of the fashion magazines.  SySy calls this one StarWriter and it isn’t exactly summery but it isn’t hot everywhere. *smiles*    The colors are fresh and hot and the style is unique and fun.  It comes with coordinating leg warmers but I thought it worked great with Maitreya suede boots as well.
